Planning a trip to Saudi Arabia from the Balkans or Mexico? It just got easier.

Saudi Arabia has added four countries to the list of nations eligible for its electronic tourist visa: Mexico, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Citizens of these countries can now apply for a visit visa online.

The Ministry of Tourism said the step is part of wider efforts to make it easier for people from around the world to visit the kingdom.

The tourist visa isn't only for sightseeing. It also covers attending events, performing Umrah (the pilgrimage to Mecca that can be done year-round), visiting exhibitions and conferences, and seeing relatives and friends. All of this is subject to the rules and regulations in force.

The e-visa system began in September 2019 with citizens of 49 countries. In 2023 it was expanded so eligible visitors could perform Umrah under the same tourist visa. This latest addition continues that gradual widening.
