New Delhi station sets separate gates for reserved and general passengers
Northern Railway has split entry and exit at New Delhi Railway Station by ticket type, and paused platform tickets, to ease the festive-season crush.

Heading to New Delhi Railway Station this festive season? Check your gate before you leave home. Northern Railway (one of India's regional railway zones) has set separate entry and exit gates for reserved and unreserved passengers to ease the crowds.
According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Northern Railway's chief public relations officer, passengers in reserved classes (Sleeper and AC) for platforms 1 to 15 must use Gate 8 or Gate 11, marked in blue. Unreserved or general-class passengers for platforms 1 to 16 must use Gate 12, marked in yellow.
Movement is now one-way: you can't leave through the gate you entered by, and exit gates are only for people leaving the station.
There are other changes too. Staff with handheld devices are issuing unreserved tickets directly to passengers to cut queues at counters, and platform ticket sales are temporarily stopped to limit unnecessary entry. Signboards at foot overbridges and gates will guide you. Ramps and pathways remain near the gates for senior citizens, people with disabilities and wheelchair users.
